Ride Middle Earth Ecuador

... an adventure into the heart of the world.

Meet our guides.

Two talented mountain bikers who are extremely passionate about the sport's development in Ecuador.

Darwin "Guadaña" Miranda

Born in the province of Cotopaxi, Guadaña has been obsessed with the mountains and his bicycle since he was 5 years old. He has been racing downhill for almost 20 years.

He's a provincial champion, the winner of the Kachi Yaku race, and stepped on the national championship podium. He placed Top 3 in Mama Rumi, and represented Ecuador in the Pan American, Latin American, and South American Championships.

He studied tourism at the University of the National Navy, where he won awards for tourism projects working with the indigenous people in the recovery of ancient Inca routes that now serve as mountain bike trails.

He was the first person to descend from the summit of the Cotopaxi and Cayambe volcanoes, with elevations of 5790m and 5897m respectively. His next goal is to descend the summit of Chimborazo, the furthest point from the center of the earth which means the closest point to the sun.

Meanwhile, as an experienced mountain tour guide, his passion (other than riding his bike very fast) is making new friends and sharing with them the breathtaking natural beauty of his home country.

Mario Jose Jarrin

Mario is a professional MTB rider that has been riding Ecuador’s trails for more than 30 years! He's a well-known racer all around South America as he's dominated the Downhill Racing scene around here for so many years.

He has won some Continental Championships in BMX, 4X, and DH. He has participated in Whistler's Crankworx races for more than 10 years representing Ecuador with the support of various brands.

Ecuador is a stunningly beautiful country with some amazing mountain biking! My husband and I got a small sample on a custom tour with Ride Middle Earth. Great downhill shuttle rides on the Cotopaxi volcano, the Last Inca Trail, Banos and Mama Rumi. The tour provided lots of riding and exploring some of the best attractions in the country. Our guide, Guadana, was a very skilled mountain biker, knowledgeable tour guide, and went out of his way to make sure we had a great time. We will be back!
