Ride Middle Earth Ecuador

... an adventure into the heart of the world.

FAQ's

What kind of riding is it? What's the skill level required?

Our riding tour across Ecuador's mountains is best suited for intermediate and advanced riders with a good fitness level. It has a fun mix of steep, fast, rocky descents, and flowing single track. If there is a section of the trail that feels intimidating, walking your bike down should be no issue. Also, our guides are experienced instructors so you can rest assured that they will be able to give you some advice to get you over the hump!

How many people can be on the trip?

We have a minimum of three and a maximum of twenty. As groups get larger, there will be more guides to accompany you. We break up groups to have a maximum of 6 riders per guide to ensure the best possible experience.

What type of bike is suitable for this trip?

This trip requires an all-mountain bike in good working condition with at least 150mm of travel. Full DH bikes would work great as well, as there are only a few spots you would need to climb. You will be required to bring spare tubes, derailleur hangers, brake pads, etc. (See more on What to bring)

There are great videos with tips on how to pack your bike for travel on  Youtube.

What are the accommodations like?

The hotels you'll be staying at are the MiraFlores Hotel in Ambato, and the Seis de Diciembre Hotel in Quito. If these hotels are unavailable for those dates for unforeseen reasons we will find equal accommodation for you.

What kind of clothes should I bring?

Ecuador has diverse climates with ever-changing weather. The temperatures on the trip may range from 6º C to 25º C. It is best to dress in layers and have a rain jacket with you. Make sure you read our What to bring list.

What is your cancelation policy?

We try to accommodate as many situations as possible, but we understand you might have to occasionally cancel a booking. At Ride Middle Earth, we try to follow our cancelation policy to protect our ability to run tours and to maintain our price structures.  We recommend purchasing travel insurance (www.travelguard.com) to protect your investment.
